Inspiration: Robert Anton Wilson
I beg your tolerance. There is nothing I can do to make things any easier for any of us, and you will have to accept being addressed by a disembodied voice just as I accept the compulsion to speak out even though I am painfully aware that I am talking to an invisible, perhaps nonexistent, audience. -Robert Anton Wilson, The Eye in the Pyramid
The body, hyper-caffeinated (against doctor's orders), sits in front of a messy desk. Full of inspiration and ideas that have been clawing on the wall of self-doubt to get out. The time has come, the "Publish" button has to be pressed.
Let's start with a disclaimer -- no one is forcing you to read this. The critical thinker welcomes criticism (see the "Contact me" page), but the writer at this point doesn't care about laurels. The child does want to scream at the world though - the outer world has been screaming quite loudly, frustrating the little fucker... Frankly, he's had enough.
The goal of this text is to present one of the umans who provided inspiration and, more importantly, lens through which the observer looks at the world. As the saying goes, one can hardly understand where they are going when oblivious to where they are coming from.
I'll start with the author of the quote above. Philosopher, futurist, chaos magician and author of brilliantly insightful, honest, and funny text the reader can lay their eyes upon. His cultural influence can not be overstated His maybe logic provides a refreshing antidote to false dichotomies often forced upon critical thinkers in many debates. His concept of reality tunnels reminds humans of the uniqueness of individual experiences and of their impact on perceiving existence. Finally, a note on e-prime: a writing style adopted here. While it might be unusual and confusing to the audience, the "I" and "is" will not be used for good reasons. Identifying the self as a singular "I" traps us in a limiting view of all the forces within. Embracing them all (hence the "critical thinker", "writer", "child" above) serves as gateway to understanding them. Then, using "is" is a hindrance to understanding relationships between entities. For example, while the statement "Donald Trump is the Devil" seems as an alluring truth, it doesn't allow the critical thinker to recognize the former as a human being in all its fullness. It would also greatly offend the Dark Prince, and we wouldn't want to risk that now, would we.
The writer had his first encounter with RAW as the second millenium was coming to an end. The Illuminatus trilogy opened a gate to the world of spirituality, conspiracies, and Discordian philosophy. At times it became a source of awe and fascination, a double-edged sword for weak minds. For the socialite encountered some who didn't finish the book and/or somehow failed to grasp the healthy suggested approach to such topics: a pinch of salt and a truckload of humor (these ingredients permeate RAW's writing style). If one doesn't keep this in mind, the text leads to a rabbit hole of paranoia (which is truly a dangerous place to find oneself in, especially with copious amounts of THC... just ask the junkie about it). here is much to be said about this great author's other works and ideas, yet the writer must maintain their empathy towards the reader. The time of infinite tangents has passed, the primary objective remains: clicking the fucking Publish button.
Be well.
